NEHL #3 Aykley Heads, Report and Team Photos

Catherine Randles
Sunderland Harriers U13s
Hi folks, Now that you've had plenty of time to recover from the most recent cross country at Aykley Heads, here are your team photos, and a roving report from the Under 13 girls race:

The race course was quite challenging, there were lots of hills and sudden turns. The ground was quite dry for most of it, although there was a small decline that was rather muddy! I could definitely feel my legs working hard to try and maintain my pace. Setting a pace was particularly difficult because of the uneven ground and hidden tree roots.

At the end there was a large hill, which for me was the hardest part. It felt like an expedition on Everest, it just lasted forever! My muscles burned along with everyone else’s when I finally reach the final stretch. Everyone was bounding for the finish line and at that moment it felt like the difference between life and death.

Overall, I liked this course a lot, but I definitely struggled on the final hill. I am looking forward to the next cross country race 😬

Thankyou to everyone who helped organise the cross country at Aykley Heads.Catherine Randles, Sunderland Harriers U13.

NEHL#3 Aykley Heads (Durham)

Morning All,

Entries have now re-opened for the third fixture in the harrier league series, to be held at Aykley Heads in Durham on Saturday 18th November.

Team managers may login at http://www.harrierleague.com/teammanager.htm

Do not re-register anyone who is already on the system, i.e. runners who have transferred from other clubs, just email us and we'll move them to your list of runners to check off.

Registration closes at midday on Friday 17th, so please get your entries sorted before then.  The NEHL tent will be on site from 10:30am on the 18th to collect numbers, register under 11s and guests, and deal with any issues.  If you have a block of guest entries to do, please email with their names / club / Date of Birth, so we can get them ready in advance.

Results will appear online shortly after each race in the usual place: http://www.harrierleague.com/results/2017-18/

Here is your map of the course.  As with all fixtures there will be first aid and portable toilets on site.

The Aykley Heads HL X/C is organised by Elvet Striders, Derwentside AC & Durham City Harriers. There will be over 70 volunteer marshals there on Saturday to ensure you have an enjoyable day and stay safe - please obey their requests and treat them with the respect they deserve. The course has been meticulously prepared and, in racing parlance, the going is 'good'. The weather forecast is for a cold, windy but dry day. We look forward to welcoming you all!
Best Wishes
Geoff Davis (Elvet),
Mark Davinson (Derwentside)
Geoff Watson (DCH)

NECAA 112th Cross Country Championships, under 11s races

Morning folks,
You have until the 10th of November to enter the 112th Northeastern XC Champs, at REDCAR RACE COURSE, Saturday 9th December 2017. Hosted by New Marske Harriers.

Your club will process your entry.
Entries for all categories under 13 upwards processed online: https://www.race-results.co.uk/results/2017/necaaxc17e.php

With the exception of the under 11s fun runs. Please send your under 11 entries (aged 9 or 10 on the day) through to info@harrierleague.com, I will process them.
I need name, club and date of birth, even if they are already registered with the NEHL as it is a different system and numbers for the championships. U11s do not need to be registered with a club, if they aren't yet, please let me know the name of their school and I'll use that instead.

The champs are open to all u11s in the NEHL and NYSD areas , and
u11 runners need not have been resident in the NE for 9 months to take part.

For NEHL registered u11s who have turned 11 since August 31st - the club needs to enter the runner as an under 13, but may continue to run the NEHL in the u11 category.

If your club has several u11s who want to take part, send me a list rather than individual entries, so I can block the numbers together.

Cost for u11s is £1, payment on collection of numbers.

Timetable is as follows:
10:35 - u11 boys 1.5k
10:40 - u11 girls 1.5k
11:00 - u13 boys 3k
11:15 - u13 girls 3k
11:30 - u15 boys 4k
11:40 - u15 girls 4k

12:25 - u20 men 8k
13:00 - senior men 12k
13:55 - senior women 8k
14:30 - u17 men 6k

Please email me rather than message on facebook, so I don't lose track of anyone, You have till Thursday 7th December to get your entries through to me via email, and I will be taking u11 entries on the day (but would prefer to get them done in advance).

I won't be dealing with any enquiries for any categories other than the under 11s, please direct any other questions to Archie Jenkins.

Thanks
Vicki
